Terrestrial Energy Receives Industry Innovation Award

OAKVILLE, Ontario, March 21, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Terrestrial Energy, a leading advanced reactor developer, has received the Trailblazer Special Achievement Award from the United States Nuclear Infrastructure Council (USNIC) in recognition of Terrestrial Energy’s completion of the Phase One Pre-Licensing Vendor Design Review with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission in November 2017. The award was conferred at the 2018 Advanced Reactors Summit V and Technology Trailblazers Showcase on February 22, 2018, at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.

“With today’s blossoming interest in trailblazing advanced nuclear technologies, Terrestrial Energy’s first-in-class non-light-water reactor regulatory leadership achievement is a seminal accomplishment that sends a strong message that developers are progressing rapidly toward commercialization in the near-term,” said David Blee, Executive Director of the USNIC. “We hope this important regulatory hurdle by Terrestrial Energy will lead the way for others to follow suit both in the U.S. and Canada.”

“As we seek new and better ways to secure a prosperous and clean energy future, the Advanced Nuclear industry has become one of the most exciting and dynamic fields of activity," said Simon Irish, CEO, Terrestrial Energy. "We are proud to be recognized for our achievements by our industry peers. This innovation award signals to our stakeholders and other constituencies that our efforts have had important results, not only for Terrestrial Energy, but for the broader Advanced Nuclear sector as well."
