The Legend of Zelda enthusiasts are abuzz with the rumour that Euphoria's Hunter Schafer might be cast as the iconic princess in the upcoming live-action film, with some fans proclaiming she is "literally Zelda".
Nintendo has partnered with Sony Pictures to bring the beloved video game The Legend of Zelda to life on the big screen, with an anticipated release date in early 2027 after the initial announcement in 2023.
Following the announcement, speculation soared among fans about who would embody the characters, and now, Hunter Schafer is reportedly in talks for the role of Zelda, causing a stir among the fanbase.
While some fans believe Schafer is the perfect match, calling her "identical" to the fictional princess, others remain sceptical. Industry insider Daniel Richtman mentioned on X that Schafer was being considered, but no official confirmation has been made yet.

Despite the lack of an official statement, fans are eager to express their opinions on the casting rumours, reports the Mirror US.
On social media platforms, one ardent Legend of Zelda supporter commented on Schafer's potential involvement: "Would be dope if she really did get to play Zelda in the Legend of Zelda film."
Opinions are split, with some fans questioning the need for a film adaptation at all. A social media user argued against the idea, stating: "The correct take is that no one should be cast as Zelda because they shouldn't make a Legend of Zelda film."
Another expressed disappointment over the choice of a live-action format and concern over casting decisions: "But if they mess up the casting like that then I'm just out."
Reddit users were swift to share their opinions with one enthusiast posting: "I so want Hunter to get this. I'll be keeping my boney fingers crossed."

Another said: "I never played Zelda, but Hunter Schafer looks like a princess so it works."
Meanwhile, another Reddit user declared: "She is literally Zelda, like it's like God put her on this earth to play her."
One more person joined the discussion stating: "I am nervous about the whole project but also lowkey vibing with excitement?I have loved this franchise since I played A Link to the Past in the 90s, I've played every game, and Hunter absolutely LOOKS the part.
"I've never seen her in anything, so idk about her acting. I'm so curious which story they're going to adapt, too."
Another commenter mentioned they would "pray".
While the storyline for the movie has yet to be revealed, the anticipation is palpable. The Legend of Zelda, first introduced in 1986 by Japanese developers Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka, has risen in fame, inviting players on an adventure through the mythical Hyrule as Princess Zelda helps battle to protect her kingdom.
The Legend of Zelda is seat to be released March 26, 2027.
