Emmerdale actor Bradley Riches opened up about how his character Lewis Barton struggles to see "eye to eye" with Ross Barton when they first meet.

Bradley first rose to fame in Netflix's hit series Heartstopper and also appeared on last year's series of Celebrity Big Brother where he came sixth.

Earlier this year it was confirmed by the ITV soap that Bradley would be joining the Dales as Lewis Barton - the biological son of Emma Barton.

Moira Dingle received a letter from Lewis who was looking to learn more about his family, not realising that they had no idea he existed.

Ross agreed to meet with him in the woods, and as the pair met for the first time they realised just how different they are from each other.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News and other press, Bradley shared: "We don't see eye to eye straight away, we don't really get each other... We do get along in real life, but yeah, we don't see eye to eye then we kinda just distance.

"He's (Ross) trying to look out for me, but obviously I don't see that straight away, I think he's just hiding stuff from me. Then we disperse and we may come back to reunite."

In terms of what's next for Lewis, Bradley teased: "As Ross and Lewis start to get along I begin to find where I place myself within the village. I think Lewis finds the cafe quite a safe space.

"A lot of nice things happen in the cafe and there’s a natural attraction to it - and obviously Nicola comes with the cafe.

"They grow a bond together and I think this bond is where Lewis finds his purpose within the village. I think Nicola says she’s always wanted a gay son, but now she’s got a gay second son. It’s a really fun duo to be a part of."

Ross eventually finds out about Lewis' "side hustle" where he grows cannabis plants, and decides to make gummies for medicinal usage. Ross sees this as a way to save Moira's farm from financial ruin and to work with his brother.
