OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) - Legislation that Horse Capital leaders say could damage their industry was approved by the State House of Representatives on Friday.

“Decoupling” would allow thoroughbred racetrack owners to run gambling operations without actually running races.

It passed as part of a larger gambling bill.

North Central Florida lawmakers Chuck Brannan and Judson Sapp -- who represents part of Marion county -- voted yes.

Ryan Chamberlin, J.J. Grow, Yvonne Hinson, and Chad Johnson voted against.

The bill has an uncertain future in the Senate.

The House also postponed a final vote on dissolving the town of White Springs to Tuesday.
