GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. (WHLT) – An Alabama man was arrested and charged in Mississippi for four counts of kidnapping and one count of carjacking.

The incident happened in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 21. George County deputies said they received a call from a woman, who reported that her vehicle had been taken. Investigators said an adult passenger was in the vehicle, along with the victim’s three children, ages 10-months-old to 13.

Deputies said the woman stopped to check on a vehicle parked in the middle of Highway 98 near the weigh station. She said a man jumped into her vehicle and took off.

The man was identified as 34-year-old Demetrius Young, of Mobile, Alabama. Deputies said he was arrested during a traffic stop and transported to the George County Regional Correctional Facility.

During an initial appearance with a George County Justice Court judge, Young received a $250,000 bond.
