Sweden's Minister for International Cooperation Johan Forssell said the government has allocated 20 million kronor ($2.13 million) to strengthen Ukraine's nuclear security, the TT news agency quoted the politician as saying.

According to him, in the current situation Sweden simply has to do everything it can to enable Ukraine to maintain high quality nuclear safety. He noted that with the start of a special military operation, the issue has become especially urgent.

Forssell explained that the money will be transferred to the IAEA, which has begun work to ensure its presence at all Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
