College baseball: Bison fall to Western Illinois in regular-season finale

FARGO — Western Illinois downed North Dakota State 6-3 in Summit League baseball Saturday on Senior Day at Newman Outdoor Field.

The Bison jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. Logan Williams belted his 11th home run this season to put NDSU up 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning. In the second, Terrell Huggins hit an RBI double and Zach Kluvers had an RBI single to put the Bison up 3-0.

Western Illinois plated three runs in the fourth inning to tie it. The Leathernecks tacked on one run in the seventh to take the lead and tacked on two insurance runs in the top of the ninth to set up the 6-3 final.

Cadyn Schwabe had a team-high two hits for the Bison. Williams and Higgins each finished with one hit, a run scored and an RBI.

NDSU (30-17, 17-5 Summit) returns to action at the Summit League Championship set for May 25-28 in Tulsa, Oka.
