A fire on an electric pole caused a switch to fail and fall into power distribution lines in southwest Jamestown Tuesday night, according to Charles Krebs, operations manager for Otter Tail Power Co.

The problem disrupted electric service to about 1,550 accounts in southwest Jamestown for approximately 1 hour and 17 minutes beginning at about 7:31 p.m. The cause of the fire was unknown, Krebs said.

The damage to the power distribution line also caused power outages to rural areas of western Stutsman County for a shorter period of time.

Electric power was restored to all Jamestown customers at about 8:49 p.m., Krebs said.
