POLITICS

Polish President Andrzej Duda is expected to unveil proposals on Monday for judiciary reform that is viewed by the European Union and critics of the government as a crucial gauge of Warsaw's adherence to rule-of-law standards.

The powerful leader of the ruling Law and Justice party, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, was quoted as saying by Sieci Prawdy weekly on Monday that the differences in opinions regarding the judiciary between him and Duda are "far-reaching".

PENSION FUNDS

Poland may put on hold work on the planned changes to the pension system, which had envisaged the transfer of 25 percent of the assets of state-guaranteed private pension funds to a single state-controlled investment vehicle, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily said, quoting unnamed sources.

TAURON

Polish state-run utility Tauron is looking for an investor that would help it finance the construction of 910 MW coal-fuelled power plant valued at 5.4 billion zlotys ($1.51 billion), Parkiet daily said, quoting unnamed sources.

COAL

Polish coal mining trade unions plan to buy two mines which the energy minister had planned to close, Rzeczpospolita daily said, quoting the unions' representatives.

GETIN NOBLE BANK

Polish lender Getin Noble Bank will likely report a net profit next year, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily quoted the bank's CEO as saying.
