Latvians name state-owned enterprises as the most attractive employers

Public sector enterprises and institutions, as well as companies with state capital are considered to be the most attractive employers in Latvia, a new survey by Kantar TNS pollster shows, cites LETA.

The survey of 1,003 employees revealed that the most attractive employers include Latvijas Valsts Mezi (LVM), the company managing state-owned forests, Latvenergo power utility. AirBaltic national carrier, Riga International Airport, the Bank of Latvia and Latvijas Dzelzcels (LDz) national rail company.


The most attractive employers named by the 548 students surveyed in the poll included Latvenergo, Swedbank, AirBaltic, Latvijas Valsts Mezi, MTG Latvia media company, Riga International Airport, Microsoft Latvia IT company and Moller Baltic Import auto wholesaler.


The authors of the poll noted that it is typical of respondents in Latvia to rate public sector enterprises and companies with state capital as the most attractive employers as they are associated with safe and stable jobs as an important characteristic of the employer.


The online survey was conducted in April 2017, interviewing 1,003 employees and 548 students.
